The Christchurch Log Burner Action Group is using lawyers to try convince Environment Canterbury to overturn its stance on log burners.

The regional council revealed last week new technology could see ultra-low emission woodburners installed in Christchurch homes within the next few years.

The group's questioning why the new technology can't be used now, when freezing temperatures are hitting the region.
