Canterbury police to be restructured

By: Sam Thompson | Latest Christchurch News | Friday July 27 2012 15:20

Police say there will be no job losses and no police stations will close in a restructure of the Canterbury policing area.

It's moving to a two area structure to be known as Christchurch Metro and Canterbury Rural.

District Commander Superintendent Gary Knowles says the move is about reorganising the district's existing resources into new functional areas.

He says the new structure retains all existing police stations and existing staff numbers.
