The Government appears confident Christchurch residents will be satisfied with new moves on planning the city's post quake future. An announcement is due this week which is expected to see a new Government appointed executive co-ordinate infrastructure repair work in the city. Concerns have been raised that planning powers may end up being taken away from the city council Local Government Minister David Carter predicts most residents will be happy with the announcement and its direction. "There's a realisation by all people living in Christchurch that we're dealing with a massive challenge. For us, the best way to make progress is for government and council to be working very very closely together." Image: CBD concept image (supplied) |
