Arrest made in alleged kidnapping

Police in South Auckland have arrested a 16-year-old youth in relation to an alleged kidnapping at Pioneer Stadium in Christchurch.

The teenager appeared in the Youth Court at Manukau yesterday on a charge of kidnapping and was remanded in CYF custody.

He's from Christchurch but has recently been living in Auckland.

It is alleged he jumped into a woman's car at the swimming pool complex earlier this month, held a stick to her throat and forced her to drive for several minutes before the vehicle stopped at Sparks Road, Hoon Hay.

The woman was uninjured.
