Christchurch's tertiary institutions are staying positive as enrolments trickle in for the coming year.
The University of Canterbury says it's enrolled nearly 14,000 students, 2,000 more than last year.
Vice Chancellor Rod Carr says international students are down about 10 percent and there's been a drop in first year enrolments but overall the university is up 15 percent.
Lincoln University's vice-chancellor Roger Field says their domestic numbers are pretty positive but international enrolments are down.
It's a similar story for CPIT but chief executive Kay Giles says a drop international numbers is to be expected.
"We're working hard in the marketing to bring those numbers up but we think that the international numbers will be down at least 20 percent, if not a bit more."
