Police express sympathy to Gwaze family

| Latest Christchurch News | Wednesday May 30 2012 9:00

Police have acknowledged the difficulty faced by the Gwaze family during the past five years.

George Gwaze was yesterday found not guilty of the murder and rape of his 10-year-old adopted daughter, Charlene Makaza in Christchurch.

Officer in charge of the retrial, Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey says they again wish to express their sympathy to the family over the loss of the little girl.

He says the Makaza and the Gwaze families both in Christchurch and Zimbabwe have been through a great deal.

He says police have highly valued the expertise and assistance of the large number of specialists and expert witnesses used in the both trials.
