Brownlee challenged over rebuild claims

The Earthquake Recovery Minister's being challenged over his claims about who is in charge of the post-quake rebuild in Christchurch.

In a TV interview yesterday Gerry Brownlee said it was the Earthquake Recovery Authority that's in charge, not him or the Christchurch City Council.

But Labour MP Lianne Dalziel says if that's the case why does every single decision have to go to Cabinet .

"If he believes that CERA is in charge, why doesn't he leave it to CERA to make these decisions? What we've got is political decision making."
