Environment Court order for Chch junk pile

By: Annette Lunn | Latest Christchurch News | Wednesday June 27 2012 7:45

A battle with a serial hoarder in Christchurch seems to be coming to an end.

After more than a decade, the city council's been granted an Environment Court order for Mark Campbell to remove piles of bricks, wood, old buses, a boat, trailer, and other building materials from his property.

The rear of the property on Forbes Street in Sydenham is so cramped, the materials are being stored on land bordering Bradford Park.

Council spokeswoman Anne Columbus says the court order is clear.

"He's got 42 days to cease the storage of those items there and we'll be going back to have a look in four to five weeks time to make sure that it's gone."

Ms Columbus says if Mr Campbell doesn't remove the items, the council can do it for him and recover costs for doing so.
