Housing New Zealand is kick-starting its Christchurch developments with a new mixed-tenure initiative.
Expressions of interest have been opened for the first brand new complex in the city.
The first site ear-marked for development is on Manchester Street and Housing New Zealand wants to hear from qualified developers who are interested in the scheme.
The winning design will combine social housing with some leased and some privately owned units.
Construction of between 20 and 30 one and two bedroom units will begin at the end of next year and it's expected to cost $8 million.
