Bob Parker says a book he's written on the Canterbury earthquakes is part of the healing process.
'Ripped Apart: A City in Chaos' will be officially launched in November.
A promotional blurb says it will reveal 'the arguments, indecision, petty jealousies, power struggles and policies that emerged before, during and after the earthquakes'.
The Christchurch mayor was hailed as a calming influence on the city in the weeks after both major earthquakes but became increasingly controversial.
He was called a clown by Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee and his council accused of being dysfunctional.
Bob Parker says he wrote the book in response to requests from people to tell the story of Christchurch and as a way of honouring those who died and the people he worked with.
All proceeds after expenses will be donated to New Zealand's Spinal Trust based at Burwood.
