Chch mayor echoes Brownlee's positivity

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Christchurch News | Friday August 31 2012 14:33

Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker is echoing the positivity in Gerry Brownlee's 'state of the recovery' speech this morning.

The Earthquake Recovery Minister gave the speech in the city as the region looks ahead to the second anniversary of the September 4 quake.

The Minister highlighted a number of signs of positive progress, including 190,000 homes being rezoned, EQC paying out in excess of $3.3 billion for claims and the central city red zone reopening by the middle of next year.

Mayor Bob Parker agrees with the Minister that there have been positive achievements.

And Labour's Earthquake Recovery spokeswoman Lianne Dalziel says it was good the Minister recognised some of the most TC3 homeowners.

"He acknowledged that there are a number of CERA meetings happening at the moment and they are about trying to let people know what's going on."
