First sod of temp police station turned today

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Christchurch News | Friday May 4 2012 7:17

The site of the new temporary Christchurch Central Police Station will be blessed and the first sod turned at a special ceremony at 10am.

District Commander for Canterbury, Inspector Gary Knowles says the building on the corner of St Asaph and Antigua Streets will be ready by the end of November.

"It means that we can move out of the current building which is about 40-years-old, and we're moving to a new temporary IL4 which will be all on one level on the same block for the next seven years."
