Frosty reception for power saving tips

By: Jacqui Stanford | Latest Christchurch News | Sunday June 10 2012 6:18

Tips aimed at helping people save on power over winter are getting a frosty reception in Christchurch.

Retailer Powershop is predicting an increase of $90 to the average power bill during the colder months.

Leanne Curtis of the Canterbury Communities' Earthquake Recovery Network, or CanCern, says there's a lot of well-meaning advice being dished out.

She says trying to make a quake-damaged house draft-proof doesn't really work.

Ms Curtis says it's also irrelevant to give advice on heating sources, as a lot of people have lost their log burners or aren't allowed to use them.
