Man in court over woman's murder

By: Lesley Murdoch | Latest Christchurch News | Thursday July 12 2012 11:48

A 29-year-old Kaiapoi man will appear in the Christchurch District Court today charged with murder.

Police were called to the Burwood home yesterday morning where they found the body of a woman believed to be in her late twenties.

Locals who live around the cordoned off flat in Travis Road say the incident is the last straw.

The area has been particularly hard hit by the earthquakes.

One resident, Vikki Stikkleman, says many of her neighbours are just seeing out their time before their TC3 properties will be demolished and rebuilt.

"We've really been hit really hard here with the earthquakes and now this - it's just the last thing we need."

TC3 properties are those deemed most likely to be damaged by future earthquakes.
