Christchurch police are continuing their enquiries into a missing 58-year-old man.

Wayne Clarke hasn't been seen since late last night and may be heading towards the West Coast.

Police say he walked-off from a Shirley rest home and suffers from dementia.

He's described as a male Caucasian, around 180cm tall and of slim build, with white neck length hair and a beard and moustache.

He has a tattoo on his right hand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
