Christchurch's historic Cranmer Courts is once again facing the wrecker's ball. A last minute offer to buy and repair the complex has fallen through. Chairman of the Cranmer Courts body corporate, David Chambers, says it means not only the loss of the building but is a devastating blow for the 33 families living there. "I haven't been a part of Cranmer Court as long as many of the owners. I mean some of the people who have been there, have been there since 1985 and it's been their home. It wasn't just a sort of glorified place in the sun, it was a home for 33 individual families." Photo: Christchurch (NZ Herald) |
