The Chair of the Committee looking at whether brothels can remain in the central city says they are still yet to make a decision. They met on Friday to examine a proposed bylaw determining where commercial brothels can operate. As part of the discussions it was determined that brothels be exempt from Aranui and parts of Wigram, as well as Lyttelton. Chair of the Committee Helen Broughton says they will need to sort out the issue over the central city soon, as they are due to report back to the full council by late October. "So I would expect it being within the next two weeks, because we then have to get that through into the order paper for October. So there are constraints on when it's got to be done."
