ChristChurch Cathedral documents to be released

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Christchurch News | Thursday April 26 2012 12:06

More documents on ChristChurch Cathedral will be released tomorrow.

The Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says CERA will be releasing all the documents it has on the iconic building.

The documents will be uploaded onto CERA's website from 9am tomorrow, because they contain more than 1000 pages, the process will take some hours.

Mr Brownlee is calling on the Anglican Church to release the information it has as well.

Gerry Brownlee says if the public could see the advice the church has been working from there will be more understanding about its decision to deconstruct it.

Opponents of the deconstruction of ChristChurch Cathedral are applauding CERA's decision to release all of its documentation relating to it.

Restore ChristChurch Cathedral Group spokesman Mark Belton says it's an excellent development.

"This will greatly help, because we've got a large body of engineers who want to look at those documents. We're sure it will be the beginning of a more constructive process."

Mark Belton and other representatives from the Restore ChristChurch Cathedral Group are planning to meet with Bishop Victoria Matthews tomorrow.
