Section of Auckland Southern Motorway closed tonight

A section of Auckland's Southern Motorway will be closed off tonight to allow for the installation of a new footbridge across the highway.

The six-hour long closure starts at 11pm near the Newmarket Viaduct affecting both north and sound bound lanes.

Work to hoist the 83 tonne main span of the footbridge in to position began yesterday.
