Mayor outraged by approval for bottle shop

| Latest Auckland News | Friday July 20 2012 17:31

Auckland Mayor Len Brown is outraged by the approval of another off-licence on Karangahape Road.

He says it reinforces that the most important factor in enabling us to minimise alcohol related harm in our communities will be the Government's Alcohol Reform Bill.

Mr Brown says once it passes into law, councils will be able to develop local alcohol plans, potentially limiting the density, and location of liquor outlets.

He says current legislation is not protecting people vulnerable to alcohol related harm in our community.
