Cafe under attack over liquor license application

By: Lesley Deverall | Latest Auckland News | Friday September 14 2012 14:18

A cafe owner under attack in Howick says it's all a storm in a teacup, or should that be a drop in a wine glass.

Residents of the Auckland suburb are up in arms after the Apothecary Cafe applied for a liquor license to serve alcohol between 8 am and 2 am.

Cafe co-owner Ted Waters told Newstalk ZB's Danny Watson it's not their intention to serve alcohol before lunch, seven days a week.

"To give ourselves the flexibility on special days such as Mothers' Day and perhaps wedding breakfasts, which we're taking a lot of bookings for weddings and ... to serve a champagne breakfast."
