New garden for kids in Wynyard Quarter

By: Natasha Burling | Latest Auckland News | Wednesday April 11 2012 6:25

More primary school children will have the chance to grow, harvest and prepare food when a new garden is built in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter.

The Garden to Table Trust is behind the project, which will include an edible garden, a kitchen classroom, an events venue and a headquarters for the trust.

Trust founder Catherine Bell says simply by educating kids about where food comes from we have the potential to change attitudes and habits of whole future generations.

She says it will be brilliant to have this new space in such a high traffic area as Wynyard Quarter.

Concept drawings are expected to be finished within a fortnight and the complex is due to be built by October.
