Two men in serious condition after Akl brawl

By: Natasha Burling | Latest Auckland News | Saturday October 6 2012 17:48

Two men are in hospital in a serious condition after a brawl in central Auckland at midnight.

Police believe two unrelated groups came together in Myers Park in what appears to be a random incident.

Detective Sergeant Scott Hunter says one group assaulted members of the other group.

He says a 21-year-old man is in Auckland Hospital in a stable condition after undergoing surgery for a serious chest injury.

Scott Hunter says a 22-year-old man is in Middlemore Hospital awaiting surgery for serious facial injuries, including a large cut, a fractured eye socket and damaged nerves.

He says items of interest have been found in the park, including a potential weapon but police are not prepared to describe it.
