Auckland's rural fire jurisdictions now all come under one district.
The new enlarged district is an amalgamation of all Auckland's existing rural fire jurisdictions and will bring together Auckland Council, the Department of Conservation and forest owners throughout the region.
Principal Rural Fire Officer Bryan Cartelle says the new approach will allow a more consistent approach to rural fire mangement.
