Stadia locals not happy with proposed changes

By: Annabel Reid | Latest Auckland News | Thursday September 27 2012 12:47

Submissions on proposed changes to Auckland city's stadia have indicated those living close to the grounds concerned won't be happy.

Eden Park residents don't want the extra traffic that would be generated by intensifying its use, staging big rugby league games there as well as it being the home of Auckland rugby and cricket.

And those near Mt Smart say the stadium's not suitable for speedway and if the sport was moved from Western Springs it would ruin the athletics track.

They say Waikaraka Park is better equipped for dealing with the noise.

The council has met today to discuss the issue.
