By: Newstalk ZB Staff | Latest Auckland News | Thursday October 25 2012 16:20

First Union workers at Fletcher Buildingâ s Crane Distribution site in Onehunga have walked off the job in a bid for higher pay.

Union organiser Jared Abbott says the workers are paid between $32,000 and $36,000 a year.

They've asked for a three percent pay rise but Mr Abbott says Fletcher's had adopted a country wide pay rise cap of two percent.

He says Crane is one of the most profitable parts of Fletcher Building with operating earnings in the past year of $106 million.
