Auckland Transport is focusing on improving safety on what's been assessed as the 10 most dangerous roads for cyclists. Consultants have ranked the riskiest roads using crash records from the last five years. They've estimated the social cost of injuries to cyclists on the 10 roads to be $38.1 million. Auckland Transport hopes safety improvements will shave $13 million off that figure. Unsurprisingly, Tamaki Drive has been ranked the most dangerous road in Auckland for cyclists. Most dangerous roads: Tamaki Drive, Gladstone Road-St Stephens Ave to Parnell Road, Great North Road-Karangahape Road, Broadway-Parnell Road, Symonds Street, Dominion Road, Lake Pupuke loop, Sunnybrae Road-Akoranga Drive, Wellesly Street, Mill Road.
