PM breaks ground for Waterview Connection trench

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Auckland News | Thursday August 2 2012 9:56

A milestone for Auckland's motorway complex.

John Key has this morning picked up a spade to break the ground for a 30m deep trench needed for the $1.4 billion Waterview Connection's twin tunnels.

The Waterview Connection is New Zealandâ s biggest and most complex roading project.

It will link the CBD and Auckland Airport, shaving 15 minutes from the journey.

At the height of its construction, the project will employ more than 1500 staff, both at the site and at its precast facility in East Tamaki.
