Auckland's future economic plan released

By: Juliette Sivertsen | Latest Auckland News | Friday September 14 2012 12:02

Auckland Council's released an ambitious plan for the future of the city.

It's launched its new Economic Development Strategy, to boost the city's role as the country's economic powerhouse.

The 10 year roadmap for Auckland includes plans to develop an innovation hub recognised across Asia and the Pacific, and for the city to become more internationally connected and export-driven.

It also wants to prioritise investing in people to grow skills and a local workforce and thus create a vibrant, creative international city.

Mayor Len Brown says the strategy guides Auckland away from a domestically-focused economy, towards a high-value export economy.
