University students rally against rising fees

By: Annabel Reid | Latest Auckland News | Tuesday October 16 2012 9:04

Auckland University students say a fee hike will be yet another burden for them.

A small but passionate group of students rallied outside the vice-chancellor's office yesterday, opposing the annual four percent fee rise.

Rally organiser Stacey Henderson says after a year of study, her loan is already $15,000.

"I've seriously considered moving back to my hometown in Whangarei because I don't know if I can afford this anymore. It's a lifetime sentence."

She says the university's fee rises will put students off tertiary study.
