Man seriously injured in ride-on mower accident

| Latest Auckland News | Thursday October 4 2012 11:46

A man was seriously injured when the ride-on lawn mower he was on toppled down a bank and on to rocks at an estuary on Auckland's North Shore this morning.

Firefighters and ambulance paramedics had to pull the injured man out from underneath the mower after the accident at Browns Bay after 9am.

The mower remained on its side and appeared to be leaking petrol into the water.

Senior Sergeant Matt Srhoj said council staff were on their way to clean up the thin slick on the water.

Skid marks were visible on the grass above the mower, on a bank about one metre high.

Mr Srhoj said the man taken to North Shore Hospital in a serious condition, with possible lower back injuries.
