Electricity contractors are working to repair storm damage in the Auckland region, where hundreds of homes are still cut off. There are six outages across Auckland affecting around a hundred people each. Power was knocked out yesterday by gale force winds bringing trees down onto the lines. Vector expects the power will be restored by about midday. The fact the wind has died down should make things easier for crews, who've been back out making repairs since first light.
