Bar owners meet to discuss alcohol issues

By: Jacqui Stanford | Latest Auckland News | Saturday September 15 2012 6:30

Auckland bars are considering limiting re-entry, as a tactic against patrons who go to their cars for cheap drinks and then to try to return.

A group of 20 bar owners have met with licensing officials to discuss alcohol related problems in the CBD at night.

Hospitality New Zealand's Nadine Mehlhopt says limiting re-entry to bars could help reduce problems caused by people who've had too much.

"People who come into the bar because there's obviously good entertainment and good atmosphere, but who are then leaving to go out and drink off premise and then are coming back inside."
