High property sales mean less choice for Aucklanders

By: Anna Cross | Latest Auckland News | Friday August 3 2012 11:33

High residential property sales in Auckland are reducing the choice for buyers.

Barfoot and Thompson sold 998 properties last month for an average sale price of more than $591,000.

Managing director Peter Thompson says for July this number of sales is at the very top end of the scale in recent years.

He says at the end of the month they only had 3975 properties left on the books - which is the lowest number since late 2005.

Mr Thompson says the low number of properties for sale is being caused by high turnover, not by the low number of people listing properties for sale.
