Auckland raising awareness on homelessness

By: Nina Burton | Latest Auckland News | Wednesday October 10 2012 5:06

Today is a day to appreciate the roof over your head - It's World Homeless Day.

It will be marked in Auckland by public talks, stage performances, and art workshops in Aotea Square from 10am.

Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse says it's about drawing attention to homelessness and debunking stereotypes that go with it.

She says the most common misconception is that people choose to be homeless, when life on the streets is very tough.
