Fight over planned whitewater facility in Auckland

By: Juliette Sivertsen | Latest Auckland News | Thursday September 27 2012 11:41

The Counties Manukau Pacific Trust is putting up a fight over its planned whitewater facility.

The facility would be used by schools, as well as attract international events and provide another training facility.

Councillor Dick Quax has previously stated the project was an ongoing nightmare, and the Trust needed to realise it was a no-starter.

But Trust CEO Richard Jeffrey is confident the facility will be a success.

He says they will apply the same business discipline which they used for the successful neighbouring Events Centre.

Richard Jeffrey says there won't even be any impact on ratepayers.
