Aucklanders set to face hefty littering fines

By: Jacob Brown | Latest Auckland News | Friday October 12 2012 6:36

Look out Auckland litterbugs, you'll soon be paying for your dirty habits.

The Auckland Council's introduced a new infringement fines system for those caught illegally dumping and littering.

From November 1, you'll have to pay $100 if you're found to have dumped litter of less than about one litre in size.

If you leave trash that's bigger than 120 litres, about the size of a wheelie bin, you'll be stung with a $400 fine.

And if you get caught doing it again within 365 days you'll have to fork out another $400.
