Hotel development plans concern city residents

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Auckland News | Tuesday September 4 2012 8:19

Beaumont Quarter residents in Auckland's central city are wary of plans for the development of a hotel.

A 34 room Quest Hotel is proposed for a vacant site adjoining the cluster of apartments in Beaumont Quarter - opposite Victoria Park.

Residents have told an Auckland Council resource consent hearing they're concerned the hotel would threaten their safety and security.

They're concerned a hotel would attract a transient population who would walk into the quarter and present a risk for ground-level apartments with limited security.

One resident is worried her privacy would be lost because people will be able to see into her apartment.
