Maritime history on Auckland's waterfront

| Latest Auckland News | Wednesday May 9 2012 8:06

Auckland's waterfront is set to become home to a slice of New Zealand maritime history.

An agreement between the Classic Yacht Association and Waterfront Auckland will result in 14 berths being made available in Silo Park Marina for eight months of the year.

The berths will become a major maritime heritage attraction, for local and overseas visitors.

Waterfront Auckland CEO John Dalzell says the vessels carry the DNA of what has made our country's maritime industry what it is today.

He says the craft and skills gone into their construction are recognised worldwide.
