Otara venue stripped of gaming machine licence

By: James Williams | Latest Auckland News | Thursday September 20 2012 11:38

A South Auckland venue is being stripped of its gaming machine licence.

Poker machines at Otara's Galaxy Function Centre have been shut down because it was being used mainly for the operation of gaming machines.

Internal Affairs cancelled its licence in May but the venue operator, KTJ Investments Limited, appealed the decision and therefore was allowed it to continue operate.

The Gambling Commission says each time the department or police visited Galaxy, gaming machine patrons often considerably outnumbered other patrons.
