Large increase in number of problem gamblers

| Latest Auckland News | Friday May 4 2012 22:10

There's been a dramatic jump in the number of problem gamblers frequenting SkyCity casino.

A series of reports prepared for the Gambling Commission reveal there's been an increase of 300 percent.

The number of people showing signs of problem gambling at the Auckland venue has gone up from 661 in 2008, to more than 2500 last year.

The reports also show that while the casino has identified 291 percent more people with gambling problems, exclusions have only risen by 27 percent.
