Mayor helps mark International Nurses Day

By: Anna Cross | Latest Auckland News | Saturday May 12 2012 17:12

Auckland Mayor Len Brown is helping mark International Nurses Day.

Four years ago, the mayor had a heart attack while at a music awards ceremony.

He says he's very thankful for nurses.

"Nurses active in our hospitals and within the primary health industry around Auckland and New Zealand they are wonderful, wonderful servants of the health of our people.

"I'm very, very supportive of the work that they do, and secondly of encouraging youngsters as they're going through school to go into nursing as a career option. It's a fabulous, fabulous career."
