Economic boost for Auckland's marine industry

By: Sam Thompson | Latest Auckland News | Friday September 21 2012 8:17

Auckland's marine industry is set for an economic boost.

A $20 million marine service facility will be built on Auckland's waterfront, in an area formally know as the Tank Farm in Wynyard Quarter.

It's a joint venture between fishing company Sanford and project and construction management company Arrow International.

Spokesman Peter Bourke says the development will include a four level, 4,000 square metre building for marine industry businesses and a double slipway capable of handling up to 400 tonne boats.

He says it's a much needed facility for the likes of ferries, fishing boats and tug boats.
