School considering celebrations for champion Ko

By: Annabel Reid | Latest Auckland News | Tuesday August 28 2012 5:11

Lydia Ko's Auckland school is thinking about how it'll celebrate the amateur golfer's historic achievement.

The 15-year-old's become the youngest person to win a tournament on the LPGA tour, by winning the Canadian Open.

She's also the first New Zealander to win on that circuit.

But while the teenager is cleaning up on the international women's golf circuit, she's also a schoolgirl facing exams.

Pinehurst School assistant headmaster Kieran Verryt says Lydia's due back in the country next week.

"We'll try to find something to mark such a massive achievement, we do have fortnightly awards but obviously Lydia's far beyond that level now."

Mr Verryt says Miss Ko's priority will be to sit her year 11 mock exams.
