Waterview Connection project reaches milestone

By: Jacob Brown | Latest Auckland News | Sunday September 30 2012 15:10

New Zealand's biggest roading project reaches a significant milestone tonight.

Enabling works are starting at the northern end of the Waterview Connection project, part of the plan for Auckland's Western Ring Route.

It means there'll be changes tonight for Auckland's Great North Road with lanes in both directions being narrowed and realigned.

When the works are completed, construction will begin in the New Year on the northern tunnel portal.

The project's planned to finish in 2016, at a total cost of $1.4 billion.
