Council projects up for Architecture Awards

By: Sam Thompson | Latest Auckland News | Thursday April 19 2012 11:13

Auckland Council's attention to good design has shown up in several of its projects making the finalist list of this year's Architecture Awards.

Buildings singled out include the conservation and strengthening of the Auckland Art Gallery, urban design of the Wynyard Quarter on the waterfront, MOTAT's Aviation Display hall and New Lynn's transit development.

They're among 20 projects recognised.

Convenor Hugh Tennent says the awards show despite financial constraints, public bodies and private developers are commissioning high quality buildings.

Winners will be announced at the end of May.
