Chinese investors interested in future projects - Len Brown

By: Sam Thompson | Latest Auckland News | Monday April 23 2012 5:59

Auckland mayor's multi-billion dollar inner city rail project could get Chinese funding.

Len Brown is just back from China and says Chinese investors are interested in private partnership arrangements on big infrastructure projects like the rail, second harbour crossing and roading.

He says they're also interested in energy projects.

"Presently in Auckland we're looking at the possibility of wind turbine developments or also tidal turbine developments. Now whatever the rights or wrongs for those projects, Chinese investors are seriously interested in the potential returns in New Zealand."

Len Brown says the Chinese like New Zealand's stability and know they can invest long term with a high level of security around that investment.
