Auckland bus unions have agreed to meet with NZ Bus tomorrow ahead of planned industrial action on Monday.
NZ Bus went to the unions this afternoon in a last ditch attempt to resolve disputes before strike action begins.
Spokesman for the combined bus unions, Karl Anderson, says they've agreed to meet with the company tomorrow but won't make any further comment at this stage. He describes the situation as delicate. NZ Bus chief operating officer Shane McMahon says the company can't afford to increase its financial offer, which was originally recommended by union leadership, and still remain competitive in the market. He says they are willing to re-table their previous pay increase offer and will look to see if there are other areas they can improve on. Photo: NZ Herald |
