Auckland's work-force better paid than rest of NZ

| Latest Auckland News | Wednesday August 8 2012 7:34

Latest figures show Auckland's work-force is younger and better paid than most in the rest of the country.

Statistics New Zealand says 45 percent of Auckland's workforce is aged between 25 and 44.

That compares with 39 percent in the rest of the country.

The New Zealand Herald reports Aucklanders are paid on average $1056 a week, compared to $965 in the rest of the country.

However, unions argue it's more expensive to live in Auckland, particularly with the cost of housing and transport.
