32 percent rates increase for Akl councillor

By: Jacob Brown | Latest Auckland News | Thursday August 9 2012 12:38

One of Auckland Council's leading opponents to rate hikes is now beginning to feel the pinch.

Councillor Cameron Brewer's rates on his modest Ellerslie bungalow have gone up more than 32 percent .

He says it goes to show it's not just highly-valued properties being hit by the rate increases, but smaller homes as well.

More than 130,000 households across Auckland will have to pay the full 10 percent cap imposed on rates for 2012/2013.
